Obama: No Country for Young Infants

Barack Obama's position on abortion is reminiscent of Javier Bardem's character in No Country for Old Men.

(Spoiler Alert): At the climax of the movie, Bardem's assassin character comes to the house of Josh Brolin's stricken wife to finish the job. The wife cannot grasp why Bardem insists on killing her; there is now no purpose to it. Bardem explains to her that he made a promise to an uncooperative Brolin to kill her; it is the principle of finishing the job. In the end, Bardem murders her, despite the job's purposeless nature.

I am reminded of No Country when looking at the freshman senator's radical abortion record. Concerning Born Alive legislature that Obama voted against 3 times, the senator said "the decision concerning a baby should be left to a woman," adding that the bill would "create one more burden on women, and I can't support that."

Obama believes that if women make their minds up to get an abortion then nothing should stop or "burden" them: even if the baby is born alive despite her best efforts. It may seem purposeless to kill a baby once it is born, but the job must be finished. After all, it is the principle of the thing.
